Did you go shopping on Black Friday? If so, I hope that you stayed safe and were able to get some good deals. I have actually done most of my shopping for the holidays already. Yesterday, a friend was shocked to learn that Reggie and I don’t really exchange Christmas gifts. I explained that we are more of a birthday celebrating family. We go all out for birthdays, but Christmas is primarily reserved for gifts for kids and family. (In reality, teachers and building staff take up the largest amounts in our holiday budget!) I went on to explain that if there is something that I really want, I usually just get it 🙂 . I like to come up with holiday gift lists though. I just refer to them on a monthly basis rather than a yearly one. In any event, below are 8 categories of Christmas gift ideas for moms (like me):
Beauty
-I have tried many concealers, but my favorite is still MAC’s Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer ($18). I also won an Archipelago Botanicals Pomegranate Lip Gloss in a contest a while back. To date, it is still my absolute favorite lip-gloss…and I need to replenish it.
Books
-I am so excited that my husband Reggie has (finally) agreed to become my business partner next year. I love business books, so I definitely plan on readingThe Lean Startup: How Today’s Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses, Blue Ocean Strategy: How To Create Uncontested Market Space And Make The Competition Irrelevant and Gary Vaynerchuk’s new book Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World.
Fashion
-Clothes (top, jeans and dresses), shoes (ankle boots), lingerie and accessories (a purse, black and silver earrings, and a wallet) are all on my list. I’m not attached to any one brand when it comes to fashion. I have to try things on, so gift cards are my favorite fashion gifts.
Fitness
– I just want a simple pedometer that I don’t need to reset each week. I have bought several different pedometers over the last year, but I have not been happy with any of them. If you have a great pedometer recommendation, please let me know. Thanks!
Home
– I have a “thing” for the Pantone color of the year. I just so happen to love that “dazzling blue” is the color of the year for 2014, since blue is my family’s favorite color anyway. As such, I’m looking forward to including more blue pieces in our home – especially my bedroom. Radiant Orchid is actually the Pantone Color of the Year 2014! (The websites that I were looking at led me astray! Oh well…I’ll still try to convince Reggie to get a bedroom set in this color!)
Miscellaneous
-I write practically everything down and there are three miscellaneous items that would be welcome gifts. They are: Amazon Prime (because I shop on Amazon.com a lot); chamomile tea (because I love tea in general and now that I only have it with honey, chamomile is my favorite) and a jewelry box (because my current one is at capacity).
Paper
– I love paper and stationery. Notebooks, thank you cards, monogrammed stationery, business cards and photo calendars are always welcome gifts.
Tech
-I mentioned that Reggie and I are starting a business together in 2014. We are going to merge his decade of computer programming and design skills (he was a computer programmer before becoming a teacher and has a MBA in Computer Information Sciences) with my decade of experience creating online content to start a responsive web design and content creation company that will serve small businesses. My absolute favorite themes are the ones from StudioPress. As such, I want the Pro Plus All-Theme Package (all of the StudioPress themes) package. As part of the Lenovo Mom program, I should also receive the Lenovo Flex 20 Dual-Mode desktop before Christmas. I’m excited about working on that!
That’s it for gift ideas for moms like me. Is there anything that you would like for Christmas?
