Just in case you have not finished your school supply shopping, below are my top picks for places to shop in NYC for educational and school supplies:

In addition to hosting a variety of educational events, the store carries numerous books and educational supplies for teachers and parents. At this large (5,500 square feet) store, it is simple to find educational books, toys, videos and other supplies for kids of all ages.
5. Carol School Supply
179-28 Union Turnpike
Fresh Meadows, NY 11366
(718) 380-4203
Widely considered as one of the best teacher stores in Queens, Carol School Supply offers educational products, toys, games and much more. Fortunately, the store is open to parents…and kids are also welcome. With options for kids (newborn through 9th grade), this is a local teacher, parent and child favorite. FYI: Carol’s currently has some back to school coupons that you can print from their site.
Also…
-On Staten Island, Stop & Shop, Walgreens, Duane Reade, CVS and other local pharmacies currently have some great school supply deals according to SILive.com.
-While the Staples national chain is primarily known as an office supply store, it offers a variety of great deals on back to school supplies for all ages. We did practically all of our back to school supply shopping at Staples. While in the store, I noted that you can buy a “Back to School Savings Pass” for $10 and save even more on a wide variety of school supplies all season long. We didn’t purchase it, but if you have several kids, it might be a good deal.
It’s also a good idea to compare prices with other national office supply chains – such as OfficeMax and Office Depot. You can do that online…and while you are online, be certain to search the office and school supplies that are 50% off or more on Amazon.com*). Mass retailers such as Walmart, Target and Kmart also offer great deals…both online and offline.
*Mom in the City has an affiliate relationship with Amazon.com.
