Greater Raleigh Visit: Big Ed’s City Market

We slept in this morning (which was SO great) before going to a late breakfast at Big Ed’s City Market Restaurant. The southern breakfast was wasted on the boys, because they just ordered BLT sandwiches, their latest food favorite. “The lettuce is watery…” Sean said, but they liked the bacon. I explained to him that he was just used to me making BLTs at home with Romaine lettuce instead of iceberg lettuce. Anyway, who goes to Big Ed’s for BLTs anyway? Reggie and I ordered their famous breakfasts.

Reggie ordered the “Fresh Country Breakfast” with eggs, applesauce, toast and two types of sausage. I ordered one of their famous “hot cakes” with bacon. Both the sausages and pancake were exceptional. I let all three of “my guys” taste my pancake and I still couldn’t complete my dish. They are huge. Prepared with Big Ed’s own homemade batter, they taste more like cake than pancake! The prices were reasonable, the service was warm and “How are you all doing today?” friendly. Best of all, the restaurant was full of a mixture of both locals and visitors…which is always a good sign.

I also enjoyed this saying that was printed on their menus: “If you enjoyed your meal, tell a friend. If not, please tell us.

I am telling you friends…I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Thanks to The Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau for including it in our itinerary for the weekend! I don’t think that they have a website, but here is their information:
