Last week, I visited Tipsy Parson as a guest of the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau. I had such a great time both learning more about Raleigh, North Carolina and eating yummy food. I have visited North Carolina before with the family for a wedding, but we need to go back to explore more of the food and cultural offerings of the city.) I was especially impressed by the fact that Raleigh’s art, history and science museums offer free admission…not just on select evenings and times. I love that art and culture is always accessible to residents and visitors. In particular, the plans for The Nature Research Center at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences (that is scheduled to open this spring) look amazing. It definitely seems like e a place that my family would have fun visiting since AMNH is our favorite local NYC museum. In any event, the people from Raleigh whom we dined with were so full of southern hospitality that I thoroughly enjoyed the lunch.
Of course, the food added to my joy at the lunch. Tipsy Parson is a relatively new southern restaurant in Chelsea. The “shabby chic” interior was warm and inviting. The food was also really good. I’m not a big fan of fried green tomatoes but I actually enjoyed their version. The best part of the meal was their pasta of the day. I wish that it was on the daily menu! You can take a peek at our meal in the photos below…and you can get your fill of southern deviled eggs with this simple deviled eggs recipe that I picked up while growing up in the south.
Have you ever been to Raleigh? If so, what do you recommend that we do as a family if we do end up visiting?
