On Tuesday night, I went to an excellent “Moms Night In”. Around forty women (bloggers, momprepreneurs, authors, freelancers and “experts”) descended on Beth Feldman’s lovely home and backyard where we were able to relax and be pampered for a couple of hours. While there, we had complimentary massages (I needed one!), manicures, drinks and appetizers. We also had the chance to learn about three new(ish) product lines.

- I enjoyed sampling a new line of refrigerated meals by 4Real Foods. In sum, the line carries healthier, nutritious versions of popular kid meals (i.e. pizzas, quesadillas, macaroni & cheese, etc.). We sampled the pizza (which was good) and the quesadillas (which were EXCELLENT) at the event. The true test (for me anyway) was testing the pizza on my own kids which I did last night. To my pleasant surprise (they can be picky, especially Sean) both kids enjoyed the turkey pepperoni pizza. My older son asked for more and Sean kept saying, “pizza” “pizza” – obviously, I wasn’t giving it to him quickly enough!

-My favorite products of the night were the Karito Kids dolls. I especially like that these award-winning dolls represent a variety of nations. At $99, the 21’ doll starter packages are not inexpensive. However, the quality of the dolls combined with the mission of the company combine to make the price reasonable. Each package has a doll and book combination AND a percentage of the sales from each purchase is donated to Plan USA, a worldwide charity that has been helping children since 1937. (At a lower price - around $20 – you can get a smaller, softer version of the original dolls with their new line of Travel Charmers dolls.)

-Slendertone introduced EnerVive Muscle Conditioner which will soon be available for purchase. Using Electronic Muscle Stimulation (the same technology that many hospitals and physical therapists use) this light, portable product helps to relax muscles. (I’m all for relaxation and rejuvenation so be sure to check back in September when we’ll be giving away one of the units on this site!)

In addition to the pampering and products, it was also really great to spend time with some very talented women including the following:

-Amy Oztan (my Guitar Hero breakfast buddy)

-Audrey Pass of Fox TV (She’s hilarious!)

-Melissa Chapman (She’s the most passionate pro-Staten Island person that I’ve met!)

-One2One Network Founder (and all-around lovely person) Barbara Jones

-Talented author Gwendolen Gross

-New Jersey Mom bloggers Stacey Loscalzo and Vanessa Druckman

-Yvette Segal, founder of My Kids Registry

-Editor-in-Chief of Big Apple Parent, Judy Antell was there. We were the first two to get our nails done. She made me laugh when I mentioned that I have a slight obsession about things being orderly/organized. She quipped something to the effect of, “Really? I never would have guessed - especially with the way you whipped out that piece of paper and started a waiting list for the manicure line…” What can I say? A line of women waiting for complimentary manicures has the potential to get ugly (even in civilized company…)

-Girl Mogul founder Andrea Stein was there. I really like that her company is focused on encouraging girls to be successful. (Check back in September…she’s going to be sponsoring a great giveaway on our site.)
