11/10 Update: Congratulations to April R. and Gina T. who won the Tinker Bell DVD & fairy wings giveaway!
Tinker Bell is being released on DVD & Blu-ray today (October 28th). I’m so excited! Two lucky Mom in the City members will win not only the DVD but also some very cute fairy wings to go along with it.
Mom in the City newsletter subscribers can enter to win one of the DVDs by leaving their name in the “Comments” section below or by sending an email to contests@mominthecity.com with “Tinker” in the Subject line by November 7th.

This is the first time that we get to hear Tinker Bell speak. The movie revolves around a variety of fairies who try to help Tinker Bell embrace her gift rather than trying to get a new one/someone else’s. This is a really great movie overall, but I think that it is especially helpful for girls. The theme of being happy with who you are/what you have is one that we all (kids and adults) need to be reminded of! In addition to the movie (I won’t give too much away, because I really think that you should see it for yourself), the DVD includes various bonus features including a behind-the-scenes “making of” featurette.
Earlier this month, several Mom in the City members were able to see a Free Advanced Screening of TINKER BELL. Here are a few of their comments:
-My wife and sister-in-law took the kids and they had a great time
-I have to say, the family enjoyed the movie very much. In fact, when we returned home, my kids were asking me if we can see it again at home. So at this point, I will be adding Tinker bell to my collections.
-My daughters absolutely loved the movie.
-After the movie, she (her daughter) ran up and down the aisle pretending to fly. I loved watching her act out the scenes. I must admit, the story line was great as it usually is with Disney. It is so easy to get caught up in what talents other people may have instead of appreciating what you have been given. I just wander if the smaller kids who were the same age got the point of the movie. Never-the-less, it was well done and enjoyed from beginning to end. The graphics were amazing and quite colorful. Disney needs to keep doing what it does best, creating spectacular films for kids.
-We had an awesome time at the movie, even my husband enjoyed it! My 3 1/2 year old twin girls got themselves all dressed up to go… The movie itself was very cute and enjoyable to both the children and the adults. The message that the movie conveys about everyone having their own special talents was especially poignant to our family with twins who are extremely different yet special in their own ways. I don’t want to spoil the story but there is a gentle “wink and nod” to the original Peter Pan film at the end, which to me really makes the movie serve as a prequel or companion to Peter Pan. (See picture below…)

-It was great! My daughter who is 2.8 years-old had on her little fairy purple tutu, braided head band with long purple fairy-like hair, and wings which I bought the night before. (See picture below…)

For everyone else, you can get a sneak peak of the DVD by watching the trailer below:
