“Green” Baby Giveaway ($165 Value)
April 16, 2009 by Kimberly · 29 Comments
Today, I want to highlight six green baby products that I have come across. All of the items are wonderful and one lucky Mom in the City reader will win a package containing the three starred items!
*-Happy Heinys Reusable Diaper
Rebekah, a Mom in the City reviewer, tried these diapers on her adorable son. This was her fist time using a cloth diaper with an inset and she thought that they worked really great. (Previously, she had used regular cloth diapers with plastic over them.) Rebekah especially liked that the diapers were adjustable and grow with the kid (an economical bonus). As a city dweller, the only challenge that she found was that once the diaper was soiled, she had to wash the entire thing. The giveaway winner will receive a red Happy Heinys diaper which comes with 2 micro fiber inserts. ($16 value)

-100% Organic Baby Collection from hessnatur
Hessnatur is a 32 year-old German organic clothing company. (They have been creating 100% natural, organic baby clothing from the start (not just now that it’s “trendy”.) There clothes are free from toxins – even the colors come from toxin-free dyes. Earlier this year, I was sent some baby clothes from their line. (The girl’s outfit went to a Mom in the City reader’s newly adopted niece. The boy’s set went to Mom in the City reviewer Rebekah for her son.) They were some of the cutest, softest well-constructed baby clothes that I have ever seen. Everyone who tried them out was (more than) pleased.

*- Lifefactory’s BPA-free Weego Glass Baby Bottles
These environmentally-friendly glass baby bottles and parts (nipples, caps, rings, plugs) are bisphenol A, phthalate, PVC, and polycarbonate-free. The thing about glass bottles is that I’m concerned about breakage. The great thing about these bottles is that they are covered with a bright (plastic-free, 100% non-toxic) silicone sleeve that serves two purposes. It helps to protect the bottle from breaking and it gives your baby a great gripping surface. The giveaway winner will receive a 9oz ($17.99) and 4oz ($11.99) bottle.

*-Merino Kids Baby Sleep Bag
This baby sleep sack (for babies up to two years) is made of merino fabric which absorbs and releases moisture to regulate your baby’s body temperature. It is 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable. It even has a safety belt attachment which allows your baby to wear their sleep bag while in a child car seat or stroller. A free matching travel bag is included. Because of the fabric and quality, this sleep bag is not inexpensive, but it is a good investment (budget-permitting!) The giveaway winner will receive a Merino Kids Baby Sleep Bag, Size: 0-2 years in Cornflower ($119 Value).

-ScooterBees
These environmentally-friendly soft soled shoes are made of recycled fiber from various sources (i.e. soda and water bottles?!). The shoe outsoles are PVC-free and phthalate-free, and are photodegradable. Each pair comes with educational art and content (their StoryTelling™ feature). ScooterBees come in 4 sizes (to fit feet from 0 to 24 months) in a reusable jute bag. (Did I mention that they’re super-cute?)

-ZoLi
This company makes eco-friendly and non-toxic products for babies at reasonable prices. They have a wide range of products (i.e. a 100 percent biodegradable changing pad, an ergonomically designed battery operated nasal aspirator, etc.) I tried their “On-the-Go” travel formula and snack dispenser. I like how they stack up, because you can put a different snack in each section. It’s also important to me that it is BPA-free, PVC-free, and phthalate-free.

One lucky Mom in the City reader will win the three starred items with a total value of $165. To enter this giveaway, please tell me your favorite “green” baby product in the “Comments” section below by April 30th.
(On a side note, if you’re really into the green lifestyle for your baby, put Inhabitots on your blog list. I met the founder, Jill, last week. She is really conscious about the environment and her baby boy was the motivation for this site.)

The environmentally-friendly glass baby bottles and the reusable diaper!
I love cloth diapers. I have been using several different kinds. It makes me happy that we aren’t brining out several giant bags of dirty diapers every week. A much greener solution!
My Baby loves Cotton Cloth Diapers. It prevents rashes in her skin and is soothing for her. Also, We wont have any garbage or trash of diapers. I use the diapers only when we go out.
I love the Happy Heinys Reusable Diaper. I am a first time mom and am excited to get in to cloth diapering. Disposables are so bad for the environmental and make so much landfill waste!
My favorite is the Mitten Sweater…so cute. Thanks for the great giveaway! Lucky #13 fingers crossed

I love the skin and baby care products from Love Me Baby Me. They’re all natural and they smell wonderful! And…they make my son’s skin so soft!
I love the glass bottles and the cloth diapers, but I really like the Merino Kids Baby Sleep Bag because it’s 100% natura merino material, renewable and biodegradable. Not only is it a green product, but it helps relax my mind because I’m kind of nervous about Sids so I like the sleep bags rather than blankets.
i like the ScooterBees, very cute
I LOVE the Happy Heiny’s diaper. We have 6 right now, and they are my go-to nighttime diaper. They’re the best. BUT seeing this website, I love Merino Kids Baby Sleep Bag. We had to stop swaddling my son because he started pulling the blanket over his face, so this would be perfect for us! Thanks!

Glass baby bottles are totally cool. Fav “green” baby item is their Northern Essence butter cream.
I love the idea of the glass bottles! What a wonderful set
I love the cloth diapers. What a great way to keep from contributing so much waste to landfills and a way to know exactly what’s against your children’s skin.
The ScooterBees
My favorite green baby product has to be bamboo onesie from BabyBam. Thanks!
Oh Plah! teething bracelets are great!
The cloth diapers have got to be the best product. Real cotton has to feel better than paper and plastic. Not to count the fact these diapers won’t end up in a landfill.
