“Success Without Limits” ($100+) Avon Giveaway

May 18, 2009 by Kimberly · 232 Comments

Congrats to the winner: melissa

Last month, I participated in an Avon call featuring financial expert Suze Orman. A “Special Personal Finance Advisor to Avon Representatives”, Suze helped to introduce “Success Without Limits,” Avon’s first ever paid recruitment program about their earning opportunities. Hosted by Deborah Norville, the piece features Avon Representatives sharing their various stories of success.

If you’re interested in direct sales, Avon is a great company to consider. I wondered why (out of all the direct selling companies out there) Suze Orman had decided to partner with Avon. Low entry cost (around $10), the ability to return unsold products and Avon’s commitment to helping women achieve economic independence were a few of the reasons Suze gave for her involvement. On a personal note, my mom sold Avon for many years while I was growing up to supplement her income. I remember going with her to drop off books, take and deliver orders. As a kid, it was fun meeting a variety of people through her job. (It also taught me early on to always have a “side gig” of my own.”) Anyway, if you’re interested in Avon, you can see the video (it’s almost 30 minutes) below:

(If are interested in being an Avon Representative after viewing the program, you can visit this site.)

As a “thank you” for participating in the call, I was sent two gift bags – one to keep and one to give away. One lucky Mom in the City reader will win Suze Orman’s 2009 Action Plan: “Keeping Your Money Safe and Sound” ($9.99) as well as more than $100 worth of Avon products including:

• Solutions AM/PM Total Radiance – Refreshing Day Cleanser/Makeup ($12.50)
• Removing Night Cleanser ($12.50)
• Solutions AM/PM Total Radiance – Day Cream SPF 15/Night Cream ($17.50)
• Big Color Glossy Lip Pencil in Glossy Sand ($6.00)
• Spectra Lash Mascara in Black ($9.50)
• True Color Eye shadow Quad in Purple Haze ($8.00)
• Ultra Color Rich Extra Plump Lipstick in Wine Rose ($8.00)
• Pro-to-Go Lipstick in Cherry Glisten ($9.00)

My own personal definition of success is being content and feeling fulfilled in the aspects of your life that are most important to you. For some it is being a SAHM, for others it is being a career woman, and it may be wearing many hats and balancing all those aspects of your life. Whatever your situation is, to me success is feeling emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, physically content, and if you are, then you have been successful at achieving that level of balance that we all struggle with and strive to achieve. Success is not measure by how much money you make, or how many months in a row you have reached your monthly sales quotas (just an example), but rather to me success is while you are traveling on that journey we call life, you are following your passions, your dreams and goals and over coming obstacles in your path along the way. Following your dreams and allowing those challenges that you must face make you grow and learn, will lead you down that path to success. Thanks so much for the chance to enter and share my own personal view!
