Eight Things on My Summer “To Do” List

July 7, 2009 by Kimberly · 12 Comments

1. Move to Queens. That should be completed by the end of the week.

2. Go to CoCo Keys indoor water park. I’m so looking forward to redeeming the certificate that I won at Mom’s Nite Out!

3. Celebrate my husband’s graduation. This will be his second master’s degree. He has a MBA and he should be getting his Master’s in Education. I think that the next degree in this house should be mines!

4. Enjoy all of the free (and low cost!) family activities available in NYC.

5. Figure out what I want to gradually do “next step” career-wise. I already have a “hunch”.

6. Attend my family reunion in Virginia. I’m so excited. Busch Gardens and Water Country Water Park are in the plan. (I “lived” at those places as a teen.)

7. Attend General Mills Eat & Greet in Minnesota. I don’t know why, but I’m really looking forward to visiting the Upper Midwest area of the country.

8. Figure out whether Michael will be going to public school (we’ll know if a spot is available the week of 8/31) or being home schooled for kindergarten.

What’s on your “to do” list?

I homeschool my 4 & 6 year olds. I think homeschooling isn’t for everyone, but we’ve had a great time with it!

My daughter will be going to grandma’s in Florida for August. This will be the first time we have been apart for such a long time. So, my summer really is July and it is to do as many of the things she has asked to do during the school year that time didn’t allow us to do. More time at the park, sprinklers, movies.

My todo list is mainly centered around my garden. Goals for this summer include building a new compost bin. We got a compost crock for the kitchen. Clearing area for new flower garden. Weeding through my garden tools, no pun intended, and getting rid of what I don’t use or duplicates. Repair or recycle if possible. We’ve already got a healthy harvest of tomatoes and cucumbers. I hope to start some herbs in and around the veggies.

I say Homeschool if you can. It seems like a great option. My daughter is only 18 months so I don’t have to decide this one quite yet.

LaVonne’s last blog post..Day One in England

Isn’t NYC wonderful. All the free activities in parks and libraries. Museums are good places to visit. And the zoo in the Bronx is free on Wednesdays.

Oh wow, awesome list, your summer sounds busy! :) In a good way though. I’ll be moving at the end of summer, so all summer I’m trying to save cash and get some work done. Mostly boring stuff I’m sure, but hopefully once I move things will be less stressful! :)

Sounds like a great list! Congrats to your husband on completing his degree, and good luck with your career and schooling decisions!

The General Mills Eat and Greet sounds like a fun event. Will be watching for updates about that.
