Who Deserves A Steak Dinner?
$100 Outback Steakhouse Gift Card Giveaway
July 13, 2009 by Kimberly · 642 Comments
Congrats to winner: MochaDad
In my Outback Steakhouse is for Serious Foodies (Like Me!) post, I mentioned that I would be giving one of you my $100 Outback gift card. (I took my husband to Outback for the Fourth of July so he’s over not wanting me to give it away.)

Normally, $100 is not a whole lot of money for dining – it just about covers a family of four. However, Outback’s new menu offers 15 meals under $15, starting at $9.95 – with a steak meal for only $9.95. That started me to thinking…
The gift card winner could feasibly take their family of four out to dinner (15 x 4 = $60) AND still have money left over to take one or two other people out along with them! It would probably even be less because Outback’s menu for kids under 10 is priced from $4 – $7. (You could use the extra to share Outback’s famous “Bloomin’ Onion” appetizer or their scrumptious “Chocolate Thunder From Down Under” dessert.)
So, I’m doing something a little different with this giveaway. The gift card is not just for you. It is also for the person whom you are going to treat to dinner with it. Who do you know that “deserves” a steak (or shrimp, lobster, ribs, chicken, lamb, etc.) dinner?
-Is it an amazing single mom and her kid?
-Is it the friend or family member who watches your kids for you but will never let you pay them?
-Is it a teacher that went above and beyond the call of duty for your child?
-Is it just someone who’s down on their luck due to the impact of the recession?
I could go on and on about the different types of people who inspire me personally, but I won’t. Rather, I’ll let you do so.
To win the $100 gift card, please let me know whom you would treat to an Outback Steakhouse dinner and why in the “Comments” section below by July 31st.
For additional entries:

My sister and her husband always let me come along as a third wheel. They always insist on paying for the meal, and me the tip. I would use this to treat them to Outback, which is my Sister’s favorite place, and she never eats there often enough, maybe once a year.
I would treat my husband because his birthday is at the end of this month and he would love to dine at Outback.
I’m following you on Twitter. (ahappyhippymom)
My daughter, who is married and has 2 children–always giving, giving to everyone. during the Spring flooding she took in another family for a couple weeks, also with 2 children–so her family doubled in size, but she still kept on cooking and cleaning for everyone, and giving encouragement and hugs.
I’d take my husband, we haven’t gone out to dinner alone in 12 years!
I would love to take my family out to dinner. We have been cutting out on eating out. My son got a 5 on his AP exam and I would love to celebrate! Thanks!
great giveaway !!
Thanks !!
I’d treat my whole family because we don’t get to eat out too often
No doubt-it would be my 46 yr old sister who has two boys, 9 and 12. She rotates taking them to their baseball practice then their game, basketball practice and then their game, then training camp for golf, then training camp for baseball. Then the Rays and Thrasher games. This takes up almost every evening and weekend. She never complains. Her one son landed in the All STARS this year so for 5 weeks she took him to practice and games every day!
Every day has been training or playing all year long. She also in the mornings
has them go to a tutor and takes them to library each week for books to read.
They both made straight A’s this year and one was ranked #1 in his class out of 340 kids. She could use a nice relaxing meal.
I would take my brother who is a single father and his five kids.
i would take my husband and son out
I would love to win this so I can treat my mother to a great steak meal. It’s not easy being blind and disabled so she will enjoy this.
I’d treat my brother-in-law because he always helps my husband do the manly-man things that need done around our house. My husband is a computer person, not too handy when it comes to fixing anything but computers, so he often needs help and he knows who to call first!
I’d treat my husband who works 2 jobs, mows the grass, changes the oil, takes out the trash, and never complains!

I would take my little sister out. She’s always been there for me and now she is going through some troubling times. Her husband of 15 years is cheating on her, she found out he is a meth head and her 13 y/o dog, Iggy, just recently passed away. I feel so bad for her – she’s never been to Outback before (neither have I) and I’m sure it would raise her spirits to have a good meal and get away from it all for a spell.
I would take my mom.
I would treat my twin sister because we just turned 50 and I would like 2 do something nice for her in return for all the nice things she has done for me:)Thank you 4 the awesome review, giveaway and 4 the entry:)
My daughter-in-law just gave birth to my first grandson, so I definitely think that she and my son (and my grandson–but he won’t eat much) should be treated with dinner out at Outback Steak House. Plus all that protein would make high quality milk!
I’ll take my sister for her 60th birthday! Thanks for the contest.
I am going to take one of my friends. Her husband is a real penny pincher but he will be out of town next weekend. We are going out to have some fun and it would be great to have a gift card.
I would take my honey/hubby who would so love it – after a 6+month layoff job situation. We’ve been there once – about 10 years ago. Our 17 year Anniversay will be 9/15 – what fun it would be to go there to celebrate!
