In the past, I have written about how much I love the Big Apple Circus. The last time that I took Michael to one of their performances, he said “Thank you Mommy for the circus. Good job.” Well, the circus is back in town! One of the Mom in the City reviewers will be attending with her family and writing about it. One lucky Mom in the City reader will also win a voucher for a family four pack of circus tickets.

I love that it’s one ring, so that small kids with small attention spans aren’t overwhelmed. I love that you can see reasonably well from any seat. I also like that it features a lot of traditional circus skills, rather than relying too much on pretty lights and high-tech tricks.

  4. Josephine says:

My children especially love the animals. The lights and the sounds of the preformance rings. Clowns always bring back memories of happy moments in my childhood and I hope my children continue building the memories I have been blessed to have.

Our kids go every year. They really look forward to it, and they love it more and more as time goes on. It’s usually a big afternoon with the kids, their friends and a collection of mom’s and or dad’s; mostly mom’s (hats off to mom’s!!!) Most especially, they love the clowns and acrobats

  7. Erica says:

I love that its an AFFORDABLE circus, with three kids that’s important. But it also has something for all three of them. My Nate loves the animals; My Lauryn loves the costumes and the gymnastics; and Vanessa loves the clowns!

  8. JoAnn Schneider says:

I saw this circus when it first came to Lincoln Center and I was still in grade school. I remeber when they lost a group of dogs that were part of one of the acts. That was a looong time ago. Of course, my favorite is the Grandma clown.
I like that they offer a New Year’s Eve showcomplete with a party a 12 midnight. I would like to do that one day with my family as a safer New Year’s Eve choice.

    Thanks!

  9. tara says:

I think my 3 year old would love the circus animals and the trapeze.

  10. Colleen says:

My daughter has recently become super excited with clowns (her choice of Halloween costume this year) and the circus. Our friend went last year with her son and she said that he was thrilled with the show. I love that it’s close to home!

  11. Julie Perri says:

My family and I unfortunately missed the opportunity to attend the Barnum & Bailey’s Circus performed at Coney Island a few months back. My oldest son was so disappointed. His 4th birthday is tomorrow on October 21st and I would love to surprise him with the gift of a trip to the circus. I have heard that the Big Apple Circus is the best around! Please help me make my son Sean’s birthday extra special this year!

    Thanks!
    -Julie

  12. Gigi says:

We have never seen it but my son is newly fascinated with juggling, so I think the spectacle of it all would be fun. I also understand that it is a good “first circus” for preschoolers.

  13. Alejandra says:

We love every about the circus.

  14. Regina says:

I’m looking forward to my daughter’s first circus experience — hoping she won’t be too freaked out by the clowns!

  15. Shay says:

Awww the wonder of it all. The Big Apple Circus is so fun. One of our, my granddaughter and I, favorite things about the Big Apple Circus is the acrobatic performances. Actually, we LOVE it all. I like that you can see everything from wherever you are sitting–no seat is bad. It’s cosy and permit you to focus on the performance of the moment. I don’t go to Ringling Brother ’s Circus because it’s too many rings…too much going on at the same time…ugh, just overwhelming.

This is a fabulous giveaway; it would be such a treat for any family to win. Thanks for the opportunity!

  16. Lisa says:

I have always loved the circus, since I was a kid. In fact, my now husband and 6 years and I went on one of first dates to the circus. And now that I have a son, I am sooo excited to share the wonders of the circus with him.

  17. Eliana says:

IWe’ve never been to the show, however my son would enjoy all the movement and sound effects and horses!

  18. Katie says:

I think we mostly enjoy the fact that it is fun for the entire family. I know I always have fun when I’ve gone. And it’s just delightful to see the smiles on my kids faces while they’re watching the show :)

  19. Valerie says:

This might sound corny, but sitting in a circus tent watching clowns, trapeze artists and circus animals while eating popcorn & peanuts is a thrill, while hearing childrens’ squeals of delight is a timeless memory that we all have with us for our entire lives

  20. Eileen Claman says:

The Big Apple circus is a unique, special circus in that it is a real circus, but somehow geared for younger children. My 4 and 6 year old went last year with their school and both had an amazing time. They loved the mini cyclist, clowns and acrobats – they came home talking about it and continued for days! The tent at Lincoln Center has a magical feel and one we’d love to make an annual family tradition. Thanks for the possible chance to go this year as a family!

  21. Debbie says:

We took our daughter last year and had her sit on our laps. She sat for the entire time and did not move. She was mesmerized and loved it. Both my husband and i enjoyed it too. We all had so much fun and would love to go again. Our daughter talked about it for the longest time. She loved Grandma. We love the Chinese urn twirler.

  22. Andrew says:

Would love to take my niece here

  23. Chitra Maridi says:

The best circus in town, my kids love it !!

  24. susie says:

The best part of a circus is how well the elephants and tigers are trained to do their acts each performance night.
