What Are You Doing For Thanksgiving?

When I was in college, I loved Thanksgiving. My mom would come up to NYC and we would have Thanksgiving dinner together at Ollie’s Chinese restaurant, right across the street from the Columbia campus. I was thankful for my mom coming to see me and I was thankful for Chinese food! Those were the days…
Fast-forward fifteen years (oh my, how the time has flown!) and now I’m a wife and mom. I still have never hosted or cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner since I have been married. Honestly, I am not a big turkey fan. I would rather eat Chinese food! We don’t though. Rather, we eat dinner over my family in-laws home. We bring one dish and ourselves. That is it. This year, I’m happy because my mom will be in town to share Thanksgiving with us. At first, I thought “Ollies!”, but I know that would not be alright. We will be going over the family in-laws home again. I think that I’ll try one of the sides that I learned from Bobby Flay (like the string bean one) as my contribution this year. One day though, I think that I will tackle having Thanksgiving at our home – turkey and all.
So, what is your family doing for Thanksgiving?

I’ve never hosted and cooked Thanksgiving Dinner either. I always go to my inlaws’ or to my parents’. This year it’s the inlaws’.
I like it that way.
No cooking for me either lol! We always go to my parents…they love having us, and we love going there!
I’ve only tackled Thanksgiving once. It was a lot of work. Not sure what we are going to do this year though, the clock is ticking and we need to decide!

I am hosting this year for the first time and both my parents and hubby’s will be joining us. My kids are having a blast making turkeys and other festive artwork for the walls. We are so excited! I feel like a little kid going into the holidays. It is awesome to feel your children’s excitement and wonder.
We are going over to a friend of my mother’s for thanksgiving this year. I’m bringing my famous non-bake cheesecake with fresh strawberries on top.
All of us are great cooks, but I don’t like to cook. We rotate the location between my parents home, my sister’s and my home. My mother is still the main cook. She is still the best cook. I can bake cakes very well, so I usually will bake a couple of cakes.
I did my first Thanksgiving at our new (and first) house two years ago. I also did Christmas the same year. It is sooooo much work, and sadly as the hostess you do not get to enjoy it the same way as everyone else.
My husband would love you and your mom’s old tradition though, since he LOVES Chinese food. Instead of hosting or hurting anyone’s feelings (we received multiple invites), we’re going to go have brunch at a nearby hotel by yourselves this year.
Have fun at your in-laws!

My kids will be visiting grandma and grandpa for a few days. The kids love to spent time with their grandparents and turkey is their favorite. They also love their cousins very much and they are a big part of the holiday tradition.
I’ve never hosted Thanksgiving. We’re going to my parents’ place upstate this year. I usually make a side dish, like brussel sprouts, but this year, I’m making pecan pie. Have a wonderful holiday!

This year I’m sad to say we have no plans. All my daughters are going to their in laws for Thanksgiving. I guess I’ll relax!
