When I think about it, many of my favorite gifts over the years have been experience gifts. It’s not that I don’t like things – I do. I just usually end up giving them away after a while because I don’t normally get attached to physical things. Experiences are different though, because I keep those memories forever. In that vein, I have a discount and a giveaway on a holiday experience gift for the whole family…a visit to see the Harlem Globetrotters.
The Globetrotters “Magical Memories” tour marks their 84th season. It begins on December 26th and will run through May 2nd. You can buy tickets and view the team’s tour schedule at www.harlemglobetrotters.com. While there, kids can send email fan letters (the Globetrotters players personally respond to them); see Globetrotter history, photos and news. Mom in the City readers can use the code HGMOM to get a $7 discount for each online ticket purchased. In addition to the discount for everyone, one lucky Mom in the City reader will receive a family four-pack of tickets to a Harlem Globetrotters game along with the following: a Harlem Globetrotter mini-basketball, authentic Globetrotter wristbands, an autographed Harlem Globetrotter team photo and a 2010 game program.

I will be receiving a gift bag as well. I declined the tickets to the New York City area game for me and my family though – only because I’m going to be out of town at a marrieds retreat that weekend. Have some extra fun for me!
My favorite experience was when I received “Timberland Shoes” for my mom. The joy it brought for her was memoriable.

My favorite experience gift was this past summer when my sister visited me from Chile, who I had not seen in eight years. She brought with her my niece who is six and seeing my daughter and my niece playing like I would play with my sister when we were little, was priceless.
My favorite experience gift was a gift certificate to WD50. It’s a restaurant that’s also entertainment, because the food, servers, etc. are so informed and amazing.
my favorite experience gift was airline mileage. My motherinlaw gave me those extra miles, and we were able to take a local trip in Japan.

i LOVE LOVE LOVE globetrotters. as a child i went to their basketball camp, and that was amazing, i SO want to introduce them into my son’s life too!!!
i misunderstood “experience” gift so im changing my answer to:
when i lived in new york fresh out of college and worked as a temp, my supervisor gave me a manicure gift certificate…it was my first time experiencing the luxury!

My favorite gift experience was when my husband surprised me with a Diamond Ring. We were married 5 1/2 years ago but could not afford an engagement ring so we were married at city hall and purchased wedding rings only. 3 years later he got on one knee and said “I am so sorry that I could not give this to you before, I LOVE YOU”!

I have 2 nephews that would be over the moon to see the Harlem Globetrotters! I remember getting to see them when I was the boys’ age and it was an awesome experience! I would love to give them the same experience that I had!
