Best Startup 2009: Precious Kids

December 22 Startup. What’s a business that you found this year that you love? Who thought it up? What makes it special?
This is a sentimental pick. A friend and her sister started “Precious Kids” a charity focused on serving poor and orphaned children around the world. There are a “gazillion” charities. What makes this one special is that it was founded in honor of my friend’s nephew, Ethan who died when he was 4. Ethan used to pray every night for “poor children without mommies and daddies”. Through this charity, his family is making his prayers a reality for kids in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
