My daughter had a scary event when she was 1 too, she tripped on a blanket and hit her top front tooth at the bedside drawer, she still has a scar on her lower lip. Her top tooth was crooked, but the oral-maxillo-facial surgeon said it’s just “baby tooth”, so let it be. The risk of putting her under sedation for a CT scan to evaluate her permanent teeth was too high for a 1 yr old, and even had we been able to look at that teeth-bud, you really can’t do anything about it until it sprouts. Now that she’s 6, that tooth is finally wiggly. We are still keeping our fingers crossed, there’s no way to tell whether her permanent teeth will grow out straight, or if it were damaged from her initial injury.

You’re right, unfortunately dental procedures are always costly, and even with insurance, somehow my insurance company seems to always think that whatever I have done is always “cosmetic” and therefore not covered. But it’s just money, and it’s all relative. We have our health and our family, and I count my blessings.

I think you’re handling it all beautifully. And yes, experience is all relative. And it’s huge that you identify that.
