My wonderful nephew Joseph had the “I Have A Dream” video on his Facebook wall today. I will be watching it with my kids tomorrow in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.
I am definitely not someone who dwells on the past. However, I want my kids to know and to appreciate the opportunities that they have today. Their freedoms are grounded in the sacrifices that people, like Martin Luther King Jr., have made in the past. I also want to remind them (and myself!) to live out great dreams! As Spanish American philosopher George Santayana remarked:Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
