Yesterday, I was able to have lunch and chat with Food Network’s Jamie Deen at Hudson Terrace in the city. We discussed family, food and his involvement in Hidden Valley’s Lunch Break for Kids campaign. In partnership with the American Culinary Federation’s Chef & Child Foundation, the Lunch Break for Kids national fundraiser helps to support kids’ nutrition education programs. As a Hidden Valley parent panel member, I was especially eager to see what motivated Mr. Deen’s involvement with this particular nonprofit. Listen for yourself…
P.S. For the record: My plate was not full. I just had one chicken pot pie. It was really good though, so I’m trying to get that recipe to share with you. I also want Jamie’s recipe for homemade baked chicken nuggets. Meanwhile, I have the recipes in The Deen Bros. Get Fired Up: Grilling, Tailgating, Picnicking, and More (that I was given in a gift bag) to keep me busy. Last night, my husband and sons were looking through the cookbook commenting on all of the things that they wanted me to make for them…guys! ☺
