Released yesterday (September 9th) by Namco Bandai, Outdoor Challenge is the first game to be released in their “Active Life” series. It has a lot of different fun, fast-paced games that really give your whole body a workout. If this release is any indication of later games in the series, then I think that this will be one of the Coleman family’s favorite Wii gaming series. We love it!
There are over a dozen single and multi-player (team or challenge) games that you can play like river rafting and mine-cart adventure. My personal favorite game is the waterfall climbing team game. One player jumps on the Active Life Mat (it comes with the game) while the other player pulls the rope by lifting the Wii remote. The key is communicating with your partner so that you jump and pull at the same time. (It took my husband and me a few times to “get on the same page”). Really though, there is something for everyone, even preschool aged kids. (Michael’s favorite is doing the mine-cart game with his dad.) Overall, this game reminds me of why I bought the Wii in the first place…the fact that you can be active/not a couch potato simply playing sit down video games. So far, this game has made us break a sweat more than any other Wii game (including Wii Fit?!). I highly recommend it!
