Last week, I enjoyed a luxurious spa day at midtown Manhattan’s Townhouse Spa courtesy of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. After chatting with fellow “city mom” bloggers Ellen (Baby Meets City) and Jessica (Momma’s Gone City), it was my turn to be treated to a manicure and pedicure.
As the nail technicians used the Arm and Hammer baking soda in my treatments, the “UNEXPECTED SECRET TO LOOKING GREAT FOR LESS” theme of the event was lived out. Before I attended the event, I had written out some of my favorite ways to use baking soda. Few of my ideas had to do with beauty, so I learned some new uses for an old favorite! My original list included the following usages for baking soda:
1. Toothpaste
2. Detergent freshener
3. Cat littler freshener (for those few months that we had our former cat tiger before he sent my husband Reggie to the hospital due to an allergic reaction!)
4. Diaper pail freshener
5. Natural deodorant
6. Mild cleaner for a lightly clogged drain (along with vinegar)
7. Refrigerator deodorizer
8. Foot soak for tired feet
9. Sneaker deodorizer
10. Stuffed animal cleaner
(Of course, using baking soda as a food ingredient is a “given” in my mind. If you do a search on “baking powder” over on my Foodie City Mom site, you will see a variety of recipes – gingerbread, muffins, cookies, breads, cakes, cupcakes and the like. Just be sure that you don’t mix up baking powder and baking soda in a recipe…not that I have ever done such a thing. Okay, I have!)
Anyway, I love being pampered with pedicures so I’m happy to know that I can add a bit of baking soda into the mix to make the experience even more refreshing. Aah…thanks Arm and Hammer!
Do you use Arm & Hammer baking soda? If so, share your favorite use in the “Comments” section below and I will send one of you the Arm & Hammer Baking Soda: Over 100 Helpful Household Hints book and the $25 gift certificate to Townhouse Spa that were included in the parting gift bag that I received at the end of the event. I will pick a random winner on March 15th at noon. Good luck!
