Best Ethiopian NYC restaurants include Queen of Sheba

This marks the beginning of a weekly post series where I will highlight some of my favorite NYC restaurants. (I usually dine out once a week and my husband cooks once a week so that I don’t get burnt out!)

December was a fun month filled with dining out with several friends. My friend Liz had suggested dining out an Ethiopian restaurant, so eight of us went to Queen of Sheba in Hell’s Kitchen. You can tell that an ethnic restaurant is good when there are a lot of people from that particular ethnicity actually eating there…and there were several Ethiopians eating at Queen of Sheba!

13 New Year food wishes for 2013

Happy New Year! I hope that 2013 has started off on a great note for you and your family. I’m excited to see what this new year will bring. I’m going (relatively) easy on the resolutions this year, since my theme for 2013 is “less is more”. I have been a list maker since I was a little girl though, so below are 13 things that are on my “food wish list” for 2013:

Love, loss and what we ate (2012 in review)

I have never read the book or seen the play Love, Loss and What I Wore. However, “love, loss and what we ate” popped into my head as I reviewed 2012. It is a pretty apt description of 2012 for the Coleman family. This past year has been bittersweet but thankfully the sweet drowned out the bitter…

Best of 2012: Most Popular Food Network Chef Encounter

One of the fun things about blogging in NYC is the variety of unique experiences. This year has been no exception. One of my “Life Menu” items was to meet and eat the food of 10 Food Network chefs. At last count, I think that I was up to 13…only in NYC! As well as being an excellent chef, he was very warm and funny. (If you like his work, check out his newly updated website chefaaronsanchez.com.) Below is the highlighted recipe from the event that I attended…

Kidde Holiday Home Safety Challenge (with a new Worry-Free
Kitchen Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm giveaway)

Congrats to the winner, Mary DeBorde

I will be honest. I don’t really think that much about holiday fire safety. After attending an UL event back in 2009 where I was able to put out a fire (see image below), I thought that I had a pretty good grip on overall fire safety. However, when a Kidde representative reached out to me to see if I would be interested in discussing holiday fire safety with you, I decided that a “refresher” would not hurt! I took their quick, online Holiday Home Safety Challenge and learned a few things…

A CafePress Customer Service Story

and

1 Custom Jr. Raglan (with the words “Obama Mama” on it)
