Fashion Week is a big happening in NYC. This February’s Fashion Week was especially exciting for moms since it included Strut – The Fashionable Mom Show. As a pre-Strut treat, Dawn and Elizabeth of Party Bluprints hosted a Blogger Beauty Day at Caravan Stylist Studio in Manhattan. (The studio normally showcases multiple fashion designers.)
While I couldn’t make it to Strut (I viewed it online), I was happy to be able to connect with some of my favorite blogging friends at the ULTA event. In between their ‘lip and eye’ makeup styling, we had a chance to catch up. It was especially helpful talking with Jo-Lynne, Melissa and Corinne because they “get” my life. They are all work at home moms who blog and run various social media businesses. In addition, they are the primary caregivers for their kids who are in half-day school. They “get” the multiple drop-offs and pick-ups …and how challenging it can be to make everything fit. (Cliff notes: It doesn’t. Just like with any other parenting choice, it’s a juggle filled with a series of trade-offs!) While it might seem crazy to most regarding why I would do a school drop-off; come into the city to support a blogging friend (I didn’t even get my makeup done…I was just there because I really like the Party Bluprints ladies!); rush back home to do a school pick-up then get online to cheer other blogging friends on virtually during their fashion show, they totally understood. I really appreciated that.
Chatting with Melissa, Jo-Lynne and Whitney at the event
Anyway, the ULTA makeup artists did a great job on my friends. This was my favorite photo from the event. Jo-Lynne looks like she should be a part of a magazine photo shoot!
On the way out, we received a few ULTA goodies in a gift bag. I received compliments when I wore them this weekend. I wore the bright purple eye shadow as eyeliner. I don’t know if you will ever see me actually wear bright eye shadow as eye shadow. I was also excited to take off my socks to show a friend my cool hued toenails. Manicures are not my friends (although I have been hearing great things about lasting gel manicures) so I primarily reserve the non-nude polishes for my toes. Beauty can be fun! I haven’t had a complete makeup trip in almost 2 years, so it’s good to know that ULTA has a store in the Rego Park area that is near my home. I hope that one is in the plans for Manhattan, but meanwhile everyone has the option of shopping online at the ULTA beauty website using ULTA coupon and promo codes. Have fun getting (even more) beautiful!
