December 5 Night out. Did you have a night out with friends or a loved one that rocked your world? Who was there? What was the highlight of the night?
This topic made me think about how much I enjoy my nights in! I really enjoy spending time out with family and friends at various work and social events. I’m happiest in my own home though. For me, there is nothing like cooking for (or with) people that we choose to allow into our life and home followed by eating, talking and laughing. As the years pass, we are more conscious regarding whom we allow in our home. We are the type of people who can be cool with practically anyone socially. However, home is our haven. We work really hard to make sure that it is a casual, fun safe (in every meaning of the word) place.
Having said that, one particular night out did literally “rock” my world. It was when I went to see Diane Birch at the City Winery. (I wrote about that experience on this post.) The primary reason is that I like to try new things. From what I knew beforehand, Diane Birch wasn’t really my type of singer and the City Winery wasn’t a place that I would normally visit. (I don’t really like wine.) However, I was working on doing “something new” each month, so I accepted the invitation. I was so glad that I did! The tapas were tasty, the company was wonderful and the music was amazing. There was even a wine (it was sweet, but I don’t remember the name of it) that I enjoyed!
I enjoyed Diane’s music so much that I recorded a few of the songs that she performed from “Bible Belt” that night. “Nothing But A Miracle” was one of my favorites:
Writing this makes me want to have another night out. Fortunately for me, I will on Monday. A good friend is taking me as her “+1” to a special NY performance by Corinne Bailey Rae. The great part is the cost: “just undying friendship”. She had that anyway, so I would say that this is a cool deal! (She was one of my bridesmaids. I – along with Michael in my tummy – was one of her bridesmaids. She is stuck with me!) Anyway, I’m not sure if I will be able to take pictures or videotape at the performance. If I can, I’ll be sure to post them next week. Let’s hear it for nights out!
Your turn: Did you have a favorite night out in 2009?
