Parenting principles followed by bibimbap at Do Hwa

Saturday evening was such a special time. Since Reggie and I were attending a parenting workshop in the evening, his aunt kindly volunteered to keep the boys overnight. Yes…education AND a date night. Double score!

The parenting workshop was very helpful. Douglas Jacoby, an international Christian teacher, came into town to discuss the principles from his parenting book, The Quiver. While the six principles that he shared about were from a Biblical viewpoint, I think that they apply to parenting overall. I will briefly share them below. (If you are a Christian parent, I especially recommend purchasing the book for more detailed guidance!)

Tea & Sympathy NYC is much more than tea

Credit: Tea & Sympathy

Last month, I visited Tea & Sympathy with a group of friends for a holiday celebration. It is one of my favorite afternoon tea spots in NYC and I normally get their exceptional tea and scones. I have never been disappointed with their afternoon tea staples. (Their clotted cream that is served with the scones is especially good.)

I also thought back to an interview that I was listening to last year. (I don’t remember who gave it or I would link to it.) In the conversation, the person doing the interview asked the interviewee, “What are your personal benchmarks of success?” I like that question, so I thought about what my personal benchmarks of success would be for this year. On December 31, 2103, when I look back on this year, I will consider it a success if I…

Best Ethiopian NYC restaurants include Queen of Sheba

This marks the beginning of a weekly post series where I will highlight some of my favorite NYC restaurants. (I usually dine out once a week and my husband cooks once a week so that I don’t get burnt out!)

December was a fun month filled with dining out with several friends. My friend Liz had suggested dining out an Ethiopian restaurant, so eight of us went to Queen of Sheba in Hell’s Kitchen. You can tell that an ethnic restaurant is good when there are a lot of people from that particular ethnicity actually eating there…and there were several Ethiopians eating at Queen of Sheba!
