Last year, I let the kids buy school lunch one day a week. For this year, they informed me that they didn’t even want that one day anymore. I guess that school pizza isn’t a special treat in their minds anymore. As such, several of the picks for this week’s “Friday Favorites” involve school lunches!
1. Kids Talk About the School Lunches They Love—and Hate. Then, 25 Quick and Easy School Lunches to Pack for Your Kids helps you make ones that they will love! (Bon Appétit)
2. My online colleague Nicole shares a great Breakfast Bowl idea that just might get my kids to enjoy breakfast. [One likes dinner leftovers for breakfast while the other mainly wants PB&J sandwiches for breakfast(?!)]
3. Weelicious Lunches: Think Outside the Lunch Box with More Than 160 Happier Meals is currently available for pre-order. (It is by Catherine McCord, the founder of the popular weelicious.com website.)
4. Barton Seaver’s got us grilling healthy this Labor Day shares some options for a vegetarian Labor Day (tofu skewers, fruit salad, grilled corn and more).
5. Quiche is one (of the few) breakfast dishes that both of my kids enjoy. That is why I’m bookmarking this Quiche Lorraine with Brown Rice Cracker Crust Recipe from my friend Jennifer over at Savoring the Thyme.
