As your teens submit their college applications, it is also important to consider financial aid.
FAFSA
Although it was scheduled to open to the general public on December 1st, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) is now open. It’s important to fill it out as soon as possible so your family can take advantage of all financial aid opportunities.
If you need help, below are a couple of free resources:
1. Your Teen”s School: Guidance and college counselors can answer questions about the FAFSA, college applications and more. Feel free to contact them with any questions.
2. Join a FAFSA Panel Discussion: The Coalition for College is hosting a free “Completing the FAFSA” panel discussion with college counselors on December 3rd at 8:00 PM Eastern Time. Get some tips from the experts and get your questions answered.
Additional Opportunities
-College Visits: Whether virtual or in-person, this is a great time to plan college visits. I have attended a couple of tours with Sean this year. Most recently, we went on a private college tour to my alma mater (Columbia) with SchoolScoops. (I’ll share more about that in another post. )
-College Now Spring 2025: College Now, is a program that provides high school students the opportunity to earn free college credits while in high school. Juniors can apply for Spring 2025 College Now courses. Learn more on the College Now website.
