My “Air Fryer Recipes for Beginners” Facebook page followers have been asking for air fryer dessert recipes. That is why I am thrilled to share this homemade air fryer oatmeal cookies with raisins recipe with you!
I have been baking oatmeal raisin cookies this past month for church camp bake sales so I tested them until I could prepare them in the air fryer. After the first few attempts, I was ready to just give up on making cookies in the air fryer because the bottoms of the cookies were too soft/not thoroughly baked.
Then, I figured out the problem…I was using regular parchment paper cut to fit my air fryer. Once I left out the parchment paper and just brushed oil on the bottom of the air fryer instead, the cookies came out perfectly! Lesson learned – either use parchment air fryer liners (that have little holes in them) or put the cookies directly on the oiled air fryer basket.
For the actual oatmeal raisin cookie recipe, I use ingredients from my The Best Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Recipe Ever (Soft & Chewy) post. I use a tablespoon instead of teaspoon scoops though. The resulting air fryer oatmeal cookies are a little crispier on the outside but they are perfectly chewy on the inside. They are equally delicious though.
Step-By-Step Air Fryer Oat Cookies Directions
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and salt with a spatula (by hand).
When the ingredients are well mixed, add the egg, vanilla, and water to the bowl. Mix everything together.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients (flour, oatmeal, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg) until they are well combined.
Add the combination of the dry ingredients to the large bowl containing the creamed butter mixture.
Mix everything together well before adding the raisins to the batter. Try to evenly distribute the raisins. (You can always add a bit more raisins if you like.)
Preheat the air fryer to 325°F for 3-5 minutes.
Brush oil on the bottom of the air fryer basket. (As an alternative, you can line the basket with air fryer parchment paper.)
Use a tablespoon to form the cookie dough into balls and place them on the greased air fryer basket. Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a fork.
Air fry the cookies for 6 minutes at 325°F.
Let the cookies rest for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool.
