Last July, my family celebrated “National Chicken Wing Day” a day early with hot honey chicken wings. After making them again earlier this week, I realized that I hadn’t shared my simple hot honey recipe with you. I’m remedying that today.
First, I’ll share my hot honey recipe. This sauce is three of my favorite things – quick, easy and delicious. “My guys” like the hot honey sauce so much that they pour it over whatever else (salad, rice, etc.) that I’m serving with the wings.
Sometimes, I make some extra hot honey sauce and put it in a recycled honey bottle. That way, they can drizzle it on a variety of dishes throughout the week. It’s especially good on pizza, fried chicken and salmon.
Hot Honey Recipe
Hot Honey Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp hot sauce
- 6 tbsp honey
Directions:
1. In a small bowl, thoroughly mix the hot sauce and honey together.
That was quick and easy, right? I normally have both honey and hot sauce in my home so I just make my own hot honey. I played around with the ratios and landed on using a 1 to 3 hot sauce to honey ratio. (If you would need to buy both ingredients, it might just be simpler to buy Mike’s Hot Honey instead.)
Now that I have shown you how to make the hot honey recipe, I want to share the hot honey chicken wings recipe.
Chicken Wings
Hot Honey Chicken Wings
Serves 3-4
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken wings
- 1/2 cup hot honey sauce
- Cooking spray
- Seasonings to taste
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
2. Sprinkle your favorite seasonings on the chicken wings. (I use salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and paprika.)
3. Arrange the wings on a large, aluminum foil-lined baking sheet pan. (I like to spritz the foil with cooking spray so that the wings don’t stick.)
4. Bake the wings for 30 minutes, turning once at the 15-minute mark, before removing them from the oven.
5. In a large bowl, toss the wings in the hot honey sauce.
If you found this recipe helpful, please share it. Thanks!
