I think that Summer 2013 will be remembered as the “grilling” summer for our family. My husband Reggie and sons want to grill practically every week. It’s a great way for the kids to spend time with their grandparents and it’s less cooking for me, so I’m happy with it. (I season the meat and Reggie cooks it.) Initially, Reggie made the standard burgers and hot dogs. This past weekend, he made salmon for his dad and grilled chicken for the rest of our family. Everything just tastes better on a grill! Here is how we prepared the salmon:
Easy Grilled Salmon
Ingredients:
- Pam cooking spray
- 1 inch thick salmon fillet
- Seasonings to taste
- Optional: lemon garnish
Directions:
1.) Lightly spray the grill with non-stick spray.
2.) Preheat the grill to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.*
3.) Season the salmon according to taste. (My father-in-law just likes salt, pepper and onion powder on his salmon…so that is what I put on it.)
4.) Place the salmon on the grill and cover. Let the fillet cook for 5 minutes before turning it over with a spatula. Cover and let cook for an additional 5 minutes before removing the salmon from the grill.
That was it! The main thing to keep in mind is just not to overcook the salmon.
In any event, what is your favorite dish to grill? I think that we will make kebabs next time…
*I love the Weber Grill that I bought for Reggie for Father’s Day. It has a temperature gauge on the cover.
