Kicking off the Holiday Season with KidzVuz

Two of my friends, Rebecca and Nancy, are the founders of KidzVuz. It’s a video review sharing site “by kids, for kids” (ages 7-12). If your kids fall within that age range, you should definitely check KidzVuz out. This weekend, Michael and I enjoyed the KidzVuz Holiday Party. “That was fun,” Michael said after we left. He is pretty understated, so below are pictures and brief descriptions of our favorite areas of the event:

1. The Nintendo Play Area (with the WiiU, Nintendo 3DS and 2DS) was where Michael stayed most of the time that we were there. He especially liked the new Super Mario 3D World for the Nintendo Wii U game.

2. The Spin Master Toys section was fun. Michael immediately saw Zoomer Interactive Puppy. In case you haven’t seen the boys’ video of the Zoomer that we reviewed for the 15 Hot Holiday Toys for Elementary School Aged Boys post, here it is…

3. Michael loves books, so we just had to stop by the Downtown Bookworks area. They had a cookie section based on The Official DC Super Hero Cookbook. (Michael also asked to keep the Insect-o-mania!: Science with Stuff book that was a part of our gift bag.)

4. DJ Kai Song of FUZIPOP was inspirational. When Michael learned that they were the same age (9), he was impressed at Kai’s budding DJ skills. He was a cute kid and he played some good music throughout the event. On a side note, I may very well be the last person to watch the video for “What Does the Fox Say”, a song that was played at the party. (My kids showed it to me on Friday and it cracks me up!)

5. Last, but not least, Fairway Market provided some amazing dulce de leche cookies. I literally had to walk across the room to get away from those cookies! (I only ate dessert, because Michael and I went to the party right after a Thanksgiving feast at church.)

I also want to commend the KidzVuz team for their raffle that raised funds for their non-profit partner, The Lamp. The LAMP (Learning About Multimedia Project) is a program that provides media literacy skills to under-served kids in NYC. In any event, it was great to be able to have some holiday fun and to contribute to a great cause all at the same time!
