I almost named this post “Home (Sweet-Smelling) Home: Part Deux” because back in November of 2008, I wrote a post called Home (Sweet-Smelling) Home. I shared about my new-found fascination with reed diffusers back then. Antica Farmacista has renewed my love affair with this type of home fragrance.
This is a part of what I wrote back then:
I had never heard of reed diffusers before. That’s surprising to me (now) since they are such a great home scent option for moms. Not only are they fragrant, but they’re also a (much) safer alternative to candles. This is how it works: Basically, the package comes with a set of reeds and a sealed bottle of fragrance. You open the bottle and put the reeds in. Be forewarned that the initial scent can be strong. (“That’s stinky!” Michael said.) A few hours later though, the aroma will have a chance to spread throughout the room(s) of your home. (Michael loved the smell the next day forward.) After the first day or two, you turn the reeds over in the bottle. After that, you just enjoy your great-smelling home! Our scent has been keeping our home sweet-smelling for the last couple of weeks and (from what I read) it can work for months/ until the fragrance in the bottle is used up. I just need to keep turning the reeds occasionally (about once a week) to refresh the scent. I live in a small(ish) NYC apartment, so one bottle is enough for my whole home. (It’s a powerful fragrance choice – we can even smell a light hint of the scent when we come out of the elevator and walk towards our door.) In any event, I’m sold! I’m looking forward to buying other reed diffuser fragrances after this one is finished.
Since then, I have purchased a variety of reed diffusers for my home. They were all good, but now I have a new favorite. A (wonderfully stylish) girlfriend who works as a makeup artist at a spa/salon, gave me the gift of a collection of two (Fig & Magnolia) 100mls of Antica Farmacista’s Home Ambiance Perfume. I love the look of the bottles and the fragrance makes my home smell so inviting. It is an all around beautiful gift. You can’t smell (that might be a future technological invention – scratch and sniff computer screens!), but meanwhile you can see for yourself:
(Yes, they smell as lovely as they look! I can’t wait to try the other scent combinations in the future.)
