Yesterday, someone made my youngest son Sean a paper airplane. Somehow, I left the airplane behind when we left. “Can we go back and get it?” Sean begged. My answer was, “No, we can’t.” (We were too far away.) He kept going on and on about that paper airplane, so I promised that I would make him one when we were at home. Although I had never made a paper airplane before, the paper airplanes that I had seen in the past looked easy enough to make. Looks are deceiving…
When I came home, I did a google search for “how to make a paper airplane”. After going through several of the written tutorials, I began to get irritated. The first few steps were pretty easy for me to comprehend, but when it came to the point of making the wings I needed a visual example! Thankfully, there is this little video thing called “YouTube” :-). I still had to look at several of the instructional videos on YouTube before finding one with simple, easy to follow instructions. (Thank you HowCast!) In case you ever volunteer to make a paper airplane for your child, I will save you the tedious search for instructions by embedding the HowCast video below:
In any event, my kids were thrilled. After seeing the paper airplane that I made for Sean, my older son Michael requested that I make him one too. It was actually kind of cool seeing them “flying” the airplanes that I had made (until they became bored and moved on to something else). Oh, well…
