My family attended an advanced media screening of Disney’s The Jungle Book in IMAX 3D earlier this week. We didn’t quite know what to expect but the new Jungle Book movie is amazing!
All of the actors did a marvelous job voicing the various animals in the movie. Bill Murray (“Baloo”), Sir Ben Kingsley (“Bagheera”), Lupita Nyong’o (“Raksha”) and Idris Elba (“Shere Khan”) were especially noteworthy. Neel Sethi, the child actor who plays Mowgli, did such an impressive job too. It’s hard to believe that this is his first lead role because as the only live action character in the film, he did a wonderful job. His acting future definitely looks bright.
My family’s initial thoughts…
Michael (12)
It was a very intense movie with some funny parts. Shere Khan’s killing and fighting scenes and King Louie’s scenes were especially tense. There was a lot of action.Sean (9)
The computer-generated imagery (CGI) was especially great. The animals looked real…especially in the beginning. I thought that the animals were real. That’s how good it was. Definitely go to see it. I recommend the movie for ages 7 and up due to the intense scenes.
(Both boys kept saying that the movie was better than and had more action than Batman vs. Superman.)
My husband Reggie
The movie was well put together. I never saw the original movie or read the book. The CGI was amazing – especially the wolves. There were a lot of intense scenes and the fighting was well-done. The movie kept me interested and on the edge of my seat. The snake was an “interesting” part of the movie. I especially liked Baloo the bear and his friendship with Mowgli. I also liked the “being yourself/an individual” theme of the movie.
I also thought that The Jungle Book movie was amazing. I vaguely remember the animated Jungle Book movie. (We’re actually going to watch that one tonight for our Friday family time.) I mainly remembered the “I Wanna Be Like You” song that King Louie sang from the animated version:
The new Jungle Book is not as light as the animated film, but it is still wonderful. I especially like the themes of loyalty, friendship and being true to yourself that are expressed in the movie. The new Jungle Book movie was definitely much better than I initially thought that it would be.
The movie was really fun and I’m happy to share a few activity pages (Spot the Difference, Maze and Make a Hexaflexagon) based off the movie with you below:

The Jungle Book is now playing in theaters in 3D, RealD 3D, and IMAX 3D. My family highly recommends it!
