November is National Scholarship Month. This is a great time for seniors (and juniors, depending on the scholarship) to start or continue applying for college scholarships. To help, I will share various scholarship opportunities over the next several weeks. I’m starting with both need-based and merit-based award opportunities for New York residents.
Application award amounts and deadlines vary, so check each organization’s website for the most accurate and up-to-date information. In addition, high school counselors are great resources.
Free Tuition Scholarships
I’ll start with two FREE tuition scholarships:
1. The NYS Excelsior Scholarship provides free tuition to eligible students at SUNY and CUNY schools.
2. Questbridge offers full scholarships to low-income, high-achieving students to attend top colleges. Full tuition, fees, room, and board are included. (The deadline for this scholarship application is usually at the end of September so eligible juniors should keep it in mind.)
