This morning, I participated in a Mommy Blogger Monologues breakfast panel, an event co-hosted by BSM Media and the Marketing to Moms Coalition. Basically, eight bloggers (including myself) answered a variety of questions from companies and brands so that they could learn more about mom bloggers. Topics included motivations for blogging; social media (i.e. Twitter) and the best way for companies to communicate and connect with bloggers.
BSM Media’s Maria Bailey, who just released a new book Mom 3.0., hosted/facilitated the panel. Maria touched on a variety of informative subjects (i.e. product reviews on blogs, advertising and what bloggers get out of blogging). At the end of the program, questions from the attendees were answered.
Overall, I thought that this was one of the best panels that I’ve participated in (as either a panelist or an attendee). Relevant questions were asked. Every panelist had a chance to answer several questions. Best of all (to me as a panelist), the audience was engaged and expressive.
The only negative was on my part. I was sick (I caught a cold on the plane ride home from Florida). I took some cold medicine and carried my hand sanitizer with me so that I wouldn’t spread my “cooties”. The medicine started wearing off near the end of the panel, so I was just focusing on not sneezing by that point! I also couldn’t interact as much as I normally would have with the other panelists and the audience members who came up to me afterwards. (I didn’t want to get anyone sick!)
I was definitely honored to be one of the moms on the panel though. Here are the great mom bloggers that were there this morning:
Andi
Kelcey
and
Kim P.
(P.S. A special thanks goes to Amy of BSM Media for helping to coordinate this experience!)
