October is an important month for college applicants. With deadlines right around the corner, staying organized and proactive is important. Here’s a checklist to help you stay on track with your college applications during October:
Apply for FAFSA.In the past FAFSA opened on October 1st. It now opens on December 1st!
- Check your Student Aid Report (SAR).
- Fill out the CSS Profile.
- Continue working on college applications.
- Request teacher and other recommendations. Common App has a helpful student brag sheet that teens can fill out to help their teachers with timely recommendations.
- Register for and/or take desired standardized tests. If you haven’t already, register for and take any standardized tests (e.g. SAT, ACT) that your target colleges require.
