I shared some of my goals for 2012 last week, but I’ll be sharing more of them as the year progresses. I’m quite ridiculous when it comes to goals…I make them about everything. For instance, when I was at the hairdresser on Saturday, I told Shanelle that my goal for 2012 is to grow my hair out 3 inches. (She wants to give me a short bob so badly, so I needed to let her know that wasn’t in my plan for this year.) I know…I have a problem. Anyway, one of my goals is for my family to travel together to fun places at least four times this year. I’m so excited to share that our first “press” family travel trip of 2012 will be taking place next weekend. We’re going to Rocking Horse Ranch!
As many of you who have read my blogs for a while know, I am more of an “experience” than “stuff” person. It turns out that my kids are too. Don’t get me wrong…they love their little toys, but they especially love the memories that we make when we go away together even more. At the end of 2011 when we were talking about our favorite memories of the year, besides the times that my family members came to NYC to visit, practically all of the other times/things that they boys mentioned were when we went away together as a family – especially for the Nickelodeon cruise, Disney World and to the Adirondacks. Sean enjoyed the cruise so much that he asked for a Michael Jackson cruise for his birthday next month. (Uh…no!)
I must admit that I love traveling with my family too. As a blogger, I often get invited to travel to different places by myself, but I usually don’t accept the offers/recommend a travel-loving blogging friend instead. For one thing, my husband is a teacher and it’s SO challenging for him to take the day off of work to watch the kids if the travel doesn’t fall during a school break. The other reason is that I simply prefer going places with my family. Actually, let me clarify…I MAINLY like traveling with my family for work events. I like going on the occasional girl’s-only event (like to Cape May, which was a blast). I like going away alone with Reggie on occasion (like to LA for the launch of Kinect – couples need some alone time too). However, if I traveled for work 6 times in a year, I would prefer that 4 of those times be with Reggie, Michael and Sean. What can I say? I love being around “my guys”! I enjoy their company.
All of that is written to say that I can’t wait to go to Rocking Horse Ranch Resorts with the family next weekend. I had read so many great things about this all inclusive family resort that I reached out to see if they offered any press discounts and they were kind enough to invite me and my family to come as their guests instead. How cool is that?! Last year, the kids enjoyed so many new experiences. I can’t wait to kick off their new experiences for 2012. For the winter months, skiing (including instruction), snow tubing, horse drawn sleigh rides and ice skating are included in the packages along with meals and entertainment. I can’t wait! I have done all of those things except the horse drawn sleigh ride, but the kids haven’t done any of them besides ice skating. In any event, I’ll definitely be sharing our thoughts on the blog when we get back. I was sharing about our upcoming trip to a native New Yorker and she said, “Oh! I went to Rocking Horse Ranch when I was 12. It was fun!” (I won’t tell her age, but let’s just say that she is past her mid-20s.) That’s what I’m talking about…memories!
If there is anything in particular that you would like for me to check out about Rocking Horse Ranch during our visit, please leave me a comment below or send me an email. I’ll leave you with some “inside information”… President’s Week is almost sold out at Rocking Horse Ranch Resorts already, but the week before (February 12th -17th) still has some great prices…
