I am constantly on the lookout for dinners that are quick and easy to prepare. For the last couple of months, I have been preparing a sheet pan sausage and peppers (with onions) dish that fits the bill.
Since I have started making this dish, my family no longer wants my previous version of this dish. (This one does taste better in my opinion.) You can try both versions and decide which one your family enjoys the most.
Sheet Pan Sausage and Peppers
Simple Sausage Dinner
Ingredients:
- 19 oz Italian sausage
- 1/2 medium green pepper, sliced
- 1/2 medium red bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 medium orange bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 medium yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small yellow onion, sliced
- Olive oil
- Desired seasonings (I use sea salt, coarsely ground black pepper and chili powder.)
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 425° Fahrenheit.
2. Remove the casings from the Italian sausage and slice them into bite-sized pieces.
3. Place the sausage, peppers and onions on a large sheet pan that has been sprayed with a cooking spray.
4. Drizzle olive oil (approximately 2 tablespoons) over the sausage and vegetables and sprinkle with your desired seasonings.
5. Bake the dish for 25 minutes – turning the ingredients over at the 15-minute mark.
I have served this dish in toasted hoagie bread or with rice. It would also go well over pasta.
If you are looking for a simple, delicious“guy-approved” dish to include in your dinner rotation, this is a great one.
