Happy New Year!
I hope that the back to school re-entry went well for your family this morning. To my pleasant surprise, the boys did really well this morning. There was one “I’m so sleepy”, but that was to be expected. I was too! Anyway, I’m so excited to get back to distraction-free chunks of work.
Last week, I did my annual personal review of the past year along with planning for the upcoming year. My theme for 2015 is “Do Good”. I’ll write about that more in-depth later this month, but first I wanted to share the top answers from a two-question survey that I did with Mom in the City newsletter subscribers…
Question #1: What content would you like to see on Mom in the City in 2015?
1. Family Fun: kid-friendly events, at-home activities, family getaways – day trips and beyond
2. Giveaways: events, products and services -including NYC-centric ones
3. Reviews: events, products and services – especially movies
4. Easy recipes: easy weeknight recipes -especially recipes for the crockpot
5. Work-life balance tips
Basically, my readers planned my editorial calendar for the year. (Thanks!) There were some miscellaneous things that were also mentioned, but I will be able to address those in a new “Ask Mom in the City” series of posts that I have planned for this year.
Question #2: Besides blogs, what is your favorite way to take in content?
1. Videos
2. ebooks
I was really contemplating starting a podcast for 2015 since I enjoy listening to them so much. I’m glad that I asked first! It would have been a waste of my time because a podcast is not what most readers want. Rather, videos were the overwhelming favorite. Mom in the City readers like to see videos for visual things (i.e. experiences, products and reviews). There is also an interest in seeing video recipes. There was also a marked interest in receiving relevant ebooks.
It’s good to have new things to learn and grow in each year. In 2015, there will be more videos on Mom in the City and I will publish at least one ebook by the end of the year. I haven’t decided whether the ebook will be family fun, food or work-life balance themed. We’ll see…
If I missed anything that you would like to see covered on Mom in the City in 2015, please send me an email (kcoleman@mominthecity.com). Thanks!
P.S. Congrats to Jessica Rosario for winning the $50 gift card giveaway for answering my two questions!
