Some recipes take a lot of ingredients and prep work, so I get a sense of satisfaction when they turn out well. On the other hand, there are some recipes that are so simple that I feel a bit embarrassed when people rave about them and ask, “Can I get the recipe?” This chicken recipe definitely falls in the latter category. That’s why I call it “crazy easy”. My 5-year-old son can make this chicken.
After eating this chicken, friends often ask, “What type of broth or stock do you use?” The answer: none. If you cook chicken in a slow cooker on low, it creates its own tasty broth. Basically, this recipe is just chicken and whatever seasonings you normally enjoy on your chicken. The only seasoning that I insist on is paprika. While the flavor is mild, the paprika gives the chicken a good color. It is primarily cosmetic, but who wants to eat pale chicken? Sometimes a video is even better than a picture; so check out the post video.
“Crazy Easy” crock pot chicken recipe
Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken (2 – 4 pounds)
- Seasonings to taste (I use seasoned salt, black pepper, Adobo seasoning and paprika.)
Directions:
- After rinsing the chicken with water, place it in a slow cooker. (Be certain to remove any giblets from the chicken before rinsing.) Generously sprinkle and rubbing the seasonings all over and inside of the chicken.
- Cook the chicken on a low setting for eight hours.
That’s it. The only way that you can mess this up is by forgetting to push the “Start” button on your slow cooker. I’m not saying that I have ever done that. (Okay, I have!) It really is simple. Even a frozen chicken will be ready in 8 hours.
